Program Description
Ethical concerns for tax practitioners is an ever growing, ever more complicated field. With changes to the tax law, refundable credit enforcement and new threats to taxpayers and practitioners in the Internet age, tax preparers and advisors must be ever diligent in their adherence to the various ethical rules that govern our practices.
Learning Objectives
1. Learn of the historical framework of the IRS's ability to regulated tax professionals.
2. Understand and discuss current proposals related to return preparer-related penalties.
3. Learn about current and future rules regarding refundable credit enforcement targeted against return preparers.
About the Instructor
Kevan P. McLaughlin is the founder and managing partner of San Diego based McLaughlin Legal, APC. He is a Certified Tax Law Specialist who focuses his practice on Federal and California tax law, with a special emphasis on representing taxpayers in civil and criminal tax litigation and controversy cases. In addition to serving in various professional organizations and winning numerous awards, Kevan is an adjunct professor at San Diego State University where he teaches “Ethics for Accountants.”
